I lost the Bottom Task Bar on my TF101, 32GB tablet. I have a Docking station to do functions when connected but the tablet is useless by itself with out the task bar present. How do I get the Task Bar back on the tablet to use it without the docking station connected to it..??

I can’t get my transformer T101 to charge up.  Thought it was the charger so got a new one. Can’t get anything but a black screen. What do I do. reply to warmkey@msn.com.  Thanks

  3. Jesse Johnson says:

Hello, is there a recall on the ASUS T-101 Transformer? Just recently a few hours ago I noticed when I went to charge up my tablet it wouldnt charge. Neither from the small plug in box or on my keyboard or from my usb on the computer. Will not charge. Please send me a response about any recalls or phone numbers I can call or how I can fix this please. I would like to know as soon as possible.

  4. FortuneDoll says:

I still love my TF101. After the update I did encounter problems loading my MSN e-mail account (very frustrating), however, I found a solution on one of the forums. Everything is working great now.

  5. GubiD says:

Since installation of this update on my eeePad I have seen random rebooting and lockups. I have also had times when the audio doesn’t initialize and a restart is needed for it to work again. Other than those issues I have had no concerns with the update. I would very much like to see the random reboot/locking issues get cleaned up asap.

  6. 89 crashes since April 7 according to bootlog uptime app. Thanks Asus for turning my valuable device into a hunk of crap. Won’t be recommending this to anyone until you get your sh!t together.

  7. Rachel says:

Fabio besides Twitter & XDA (a total ceoopssl) how/where can I donate to you?I’ve been using (and promoting) Revolver since version 2. I wouldn’t have anything else on my TF. I feel like I owe you, and would like to donate. Also, is there another place besides the ceoopssl to download the ROM and updates? Rev Parts doesn’t seem to do it for me. I’ve been relying on friends to d/l it for me

  8. Nade says:

  10. DLH says:

Just thought I’d report back. I have a USA B80 TF101, 32G,32G,32G w/keyboard. Not rooted, but I am running GO Launcher EX. I have not done a Factory Reset ever on this machine.

Had lots of random reboots (RR) and frequent SD remounts right after the 9.2.1.21 update. From engineering and previous Unix and Linux experience I have been theorizing that the RRs are due to the update’s inability to properly handle network and system triggers during sleep…

In testing this I tried turning off (unchecking) rebooting, turning on (checking) the MobileDock Battery saving mode and the Disconnect network during sleep options, leaving them on. Had a RR at about 55 hours of uptime.

At that time, the only change I made was to reverse these settings (uncheck them, turning them off) and reboot. Also, Procedurally to avoid battery loss and to avoid network triggers during sleep, I am manually turning off WiFi a few times a day especially when travelling or when otherwise not needing a connection.

I have had no RRs since and have 92 hours of uptime. Also have had a very few SD remounts, but I did have those before the 9.2.1.21 update. At least at this time, the TF101 appears to be running smoothly. HDMI works, USB works, SD cards work, existing software works, sleep works.

    I’ll continue reporting in…

At this point I suspect turning MobileDock Battery saving mode and the Disconnect network during sleep options OFF has provided a fix to the RRs and perhaps also to the SD remounts. MobileDock Battery saving mode (ON) hasn’t worked since the first ICS install, so that is a non-issue, Disconnect network during sleep (ON) was working and would have saved battery, but turning off WiFi manually when not using it does the same and is relatively easy from the ASUS Quick Setting notification panel.

    • DLH says:

Reporting in again: 131 uptime hours now, no random reboots or any other strange behavior. Same settings, same procedures. Very stable.

(P.S. I’m not using Wake Lock.)

    • DLH says:

Note: Intentionally rebooted at 183:35 for an app update that required it. More than a week without random reboots, yea!!!

      :)

  11. Marcel says:

I updated my TF101 a day ago. Ok, No more reboots thats cool, no more battery drain. But, instead, The transformer will shutdown fully. This means that when closing the lid (i have a dock) or leave it to sleep the TF will fully shutdown and you need to cold boot it. One problem is that no email is notified as well as other notifications and a quick lookup of something will cost you at least a minute to get the darn thing up and running or leave it on all the time which is off course no option. After 2 RMA’s, Six months of trouble I finally gave up and will bring the tablet to the shooting range to have at least some fun out of it. No more Asus.

  13. zoltar says:

Having the same issues, random reboots even after the latest software update. Sometimes it just reboots and goes into a continuous reload, consuming all the battery. I am very disappointed with Asus, I really like the Transformer but don’t think I will buy another Asus product again after this. Please fix it or let us unlock the bootloader so we can put custom ROMs (which seem better than what Asus is able to give us).

  14. Stunts says:

Please, comeback to honeycomb… My tablet was SO good with him…
    I can’t take anymore this reboots…
I thinked I’ll never sai this, but, I think I prefer an iPad now… seriously.. =(((( I don’t want more my tf101 =/ I want my OLD tf101 with honeycomb, can be?

  15. Stunts says:

  17. Allan says:

I agree with Ethan. They need to recall the tf101′s. I keep checking around the internet to see if the latest update did the trick. The update lurks on my tablet ( every once in a while screen pops up asking me to update. I fear that one day it will do so without my permission ). I haven’t installed it and am scared do so, so I am still running Honeycomb. My know it all son in law purchased an IPAD. I hate eating crow.

  18. tf lover says:

Please fix the browser unexpected shut down, it is annoying and makes browsing boring

  19. Cal says:

Got the latest update on april 24th… still rebooting, and still getting screen tearing… Apparently it didn’t improve the stability by much at all. I haven’t been able to connect to my wireless extender. For those who mention the wakelock or similar fixes. well they’re just as annoying. If any app crashes, and manages to take down wakelock with it, guess what? It’s now vulnerable to random reboots again. I managed to replicate it by playing angry birds space. It crashed, and when it got back to the home screen, the wakelock icon had disappeared. you have to actually reboot the transformer to apply the settings again. REALLY convenient, considering most apps seems to crash after the newest update.

Asus… do you not have access to a device from every version of serial number to test with to confirm your wild claims of fixing these reboot and screen issues with this update? I don’t think so. Because a sizable number of owners are still complaining about the same issues I’m having. With serial numbers ranging from b60 like mine, to b70, b80… if youre going to fix something, fix it for ALL users. I dont care if timmy from california’s problems are fixed. I paid the same amount of money (actually MORE because I’m in Canada) for the same product, with a different serial code. I’m NOT a satisfied customer. Not to mention the F*cking bogus “NUMBER PAD” on the g74sx laptop I bought. Any update to fix that?

  20. Adrian says:

Sorry – should say that was not with the s/w this blog entry is about…. I’m still waiting for this in the UK

  21. Adrian says:

For those suffering from reboots after the original ICS update. I’ve gone through a long support route with ASUS, shipped my TF101 off for ‘repair’ – nothing found wrong. Eventually I manually downloaded the firmware update, copied it to a micro-SD card and managed to get the TF101 to see it as an ‘update’. I applied it (basically the same update as before). Since then my crashes and reboots have definitely decreased. I suspect there was something in the OTA update that messed it up.

  22. Adrian says:

Great for the US… any timeline for the rest of the world???

  23. Sheri Chander says:

The tablet seems a bit more stable after the update but the speaker sound issue is still there. Asus please fix this asap as the external speaker sound it too low while watching movies. So much for the SRS surround!!!!

  24. DLH says:

Ok, had random reboots (lots) over the initial 3 or 4 hours after installing the update.

Noticed “Disconnect network during sleep” was not working (when checked). Turned feature off, rebooted, turned it on, rebooted, and it began working.

Since then (50 hours later) have had no random reboots and the pad is working very nicely.

I suspect settings related to network values got corrupted during the upgrade process.

If you have run out of things to try, this might help.

    • DLH says:

Well, just had a random reboot while receiving an email during sleep.

I think this, and the fact that the program Wake Lock tends to prevent the random reboots during sleep, points to where the problem is: the kernel is not handling sleeping and suspended network triggers properly.

ASUS, if you need another test bed, let me know.

  25. Paul says:

Does 9.2.1.21 officially support wired ethernet via USB adapter? It seems to work, but is flakey to say the least.

  26. C.Hill says:

I love updates, but they need to be stable releases. I used to use my TF101 as my alarm clock, but I’ve lost that functionality because I never know when it will reboot and freeze on me. The system has become unreliable and seems to be getting worse, now wifi is flaky, and the video drivers have been bad since the first ICS update. I’m beginning to get exasperated with the unreliability of this product. Please give us a stable update!

  27. George says:

I have had random reboots since the ICS upgrade as well — This upgrade did not fix anything. I arrived at work with my TF101 in my backpack as I do every day. Pulled the tablet out, pressed the power button and nothing happens. Had to plug it in and long-press. As usual (since ICS), the battery has been depleted. This happens to be at least three times a week: The devices does not respond to the power button and after plugging it in to charge and powering it up, the battery indicator shows me a dead battery.

Your mouse is having a cilcnoft with the pen tablet. Two solutions you need to update your drivers for the mouse or pen tablet so that photoshop can recognize both at the same time. If that doesn’t work (i.e, if your drivers are up to date), and your mouse is still having a cilcnoft with the pen tablet, try unplugging it and restarting photoshop with only the pen tablet plugged in. If it works, you know that’s what the problem is.

WOW…updated last night…tablet says version 4.0.3….cant begin to tell you all of the issues im having…too many to list….but the first and foremost is complete instability with the stock browser and internet connection….browser hangs…will not load web page and nothing i do short of reboot will correct the issue…cant watch vids as they hang and screen goes dark… and when it does work it is extremely SLOW…web pages that should load instantly take 15 to 20 seconds…scrolling hangs, touch screen non-responsive…takes a minimum of 2 touches to activate anything sometimes 4 or 5….im really not impressed with ICS or ASUS at this point…some of these issues are lessened after i downloaded Dolphin but not alleviated…..COME ON ASUS …its only been 2 months since i was able to enjoy my 550 dollar investment…

  33. wle says:

Ever since this latest update mine has worked fine. No reboots or other mysterious happenings.

  34. Ethan says:

Asus, please issue a recall for all tf101s!

All these issues are just too much. persistent problems

  35. This does not seem to help much

  36. Stunts says:

Can I go back to honeycomb =( My tablet was SO good before this updates =/

  37. Don says:

After I first updated my tf101 to ICS I had all the reboot problems everyone else was having. This literally forced me to root the device and install an ICS rom, since I couldn’t get back to honeycomb. No problems whatsoever with the ICS rom I installed after rooting. Maybe the problem is in the software that ASUS includes with their ICS update. Solution for those are considering abandoning their TF101, root the damn thing and go with a custom ICS rom, without all the ASUS bloatware. If you’ve bricked your device, this helped me unbrick mine.

    http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-unbrick-asus-eee-pad-transformer-honeycomb-tablet/.

this is where I went to root and install a custom ICS rom.

    Good luck everyone.

    • alan says:

  38. Manny h says:

Just updated my tf101. As soon as it booted up I recieved the “unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped”.
Well maybe my TF will never work as it was supposed to. Pretty bummed out.

    • Gaston says:

Had that issue a while ago. It’s due to the contents of the SDCard not being scanned properly or sth. Best way to get rid of it is to go to the task manager and clear the cache for the media process.

  39. Tim says:

This is my second TF101 in a month and a half, the first TF101 I returned it and got a replacement becasue the OTA bricked my tablet. My second TF101 I did a ICS OTA update and I got random reboots which wasnt a big concern then I got a 2nd OTA on 4/24/12 now the battery will not charge.
I have to send back to ASUS so they can check it. I am a Android guy but once I get it back my TF101 I am probaly go sell it and go to the Dark Side and get a Ipad….

  40. rick says:

My Transformer worked fine before the undate. I didn’t have any of the re-boot problems a lot of other people were having. Now I can’t get my Transformer to connect to my router.

    • Nat says:

Gat a tf300 or a tf201. I got the tf101 the new iPad and the prime i love the prime works great or hold of for the tf700

  41. While i have not had any lockups or random rebooted, I am still experiancing really terrible skipping behavior in the YouTube app. I have had that since honeycomb and was hoping the update to ICS would have resolved the problem but alas it still skips.

    Anyone else have that problem?

    • Rodolfo says:

Your not alone on this one. YT App is horrible, it’s just too bad that we waited all this long…for Nothing. But we know this can be some OS-related bug or something, because trying to play the same video on a different browser and this behave is still there.
ASUS should focus on developing a tool that provides to downgrade the same way as if we were upgrading AND prevent us from forced-upgrade. I remember back in March when I was excited about ICS because it has the ‘ability’ to remove an app from task list without having to force it to close and release some memory (like in HC) and everybody was talking good about it. Now I feel like a fool with no way to get back, my battery lasts much less than it was supposed to and just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, there is the random reboot and FWB (freezes-while-booting). Persistent perfection? I think it should be Persistent Problems.

  42. Benson Hoopes says:

    super excited… yeah buddy!!!!

  43. Don says:

Yup, I’m seeing random reboots now too. More than before.

Mostly just using Calendar and Email.

  44. Peter says:

    Still reboots randomly!!!!!

    • FInixNOver says:

And seems I spoke to soon before!
ASUS, WAKE UP AND FIX STUFF!
Do you even test the changes you make before releasing them to the general public?
Honestly, I’m quite angry because I don’t see my money being put to good use.
Still, I’m not ready to give up on you just yet. But listen to people more often, and try to get things right in less updates!

  45. kyle says:

did you guys bother to fix the wifi issue or am i still going to have to deal with my connection dropping every five minutes

  46. Don says:

    Thank you for the update…

Things seem a bit faster and more stable so far. I haven’t seen any random re-boots yet.

Still a problem (but maybe on your list already), the ASUS Customized setting => MobileDock Battery Saving Mode seems to always be stuck “on”. Whenever I switch it off, I still cannot wake the device from the MobileDock keyboard (v EP101-0213). This has not worked correctly since the original ICS update, it would be very handy to have it working again.

    Thanks again!

    :)

    • FInixNOver says:

Well, it seems that ASUS is fast asleep while they should keep their eyes peeled and pay more attention to user reports! It’s almost as if they don’t give a s**t about what the users report to them.
Waking the device from the dock’s HW keys, is a key feature, and since the ICS upgrade, it has made me almost completely give up using the dock, because I find myself having to reach for the tablet’s power key whenever I leave the TF docked but opened, since pressing the lock button in the dock just will not work, no matter what settings we have set. The only way is to keep closing and opening the lid (as if it was a netbook), putting unnecessary extra stress in the dock’s hinge.
ASUS, I know you need to sell new parts and new devices, but money doesn’t come cheap, neither did my Transformer, so I’d like to keep it ship shape for as long as I can, but you’re not making it easy!…
All these issues have been reported countless times in the past month or so… hell, we even thought that the ICS update for the TF101G users would have these problems sorted, but I guess we’re at least another update away from that!
I’ll be a little less displeased if you at least solved the random reboots and SODs.

      • Laurent says:

You can press the mouse button veto bake or go to the asus settings and enable wake from keyboard buttons… It’s off by default to save battery

        • FInixNOver says:

The mouse button press doesn’t always work, and even when it does, it just wakes the device but you still have to unlock the screen, as opposed to honeycomb, where one press in the dock’s lock key, would wake and unlock. And unless you’re talking about another setting, that nobody knows about, other than “MobileDock Battery Saving Mode” (which has already been proven to NOT be working), please let us know!

  47. Jack says:

Thank you for the update. It seems to be more stable. Also will definitely consider my future one to be an ASUS because of your continued support. :)

    • Norris Cheeseburn says:

Good work, post a few more comments like this and we’ll have this mess under control, coffee at 3?

  48. amuns says:

I greatly appreciate how Asus has kept this tablet updated because I did not want a device which would be replaced in one year. Despite the occassional reboot, the original ICS update made the tablet much more pleasurable. Look forward to this new version.

  49. Steve says:

Got mine last night, hope it fixes the random daily reboot issue!!
