How to Find out how Fast a PC is Before you Buy

Compare PC benchmarks for 1,000's of computers before you buy with Geekbench
Picking a new PC can be an overwhelming experience but a new service called Geekbench could make things a lot easier. With thousands of PC benchmarks stored in their Geekbench Result Browser you can finally directly compare one laptop to another to find out which is faster – before you buy.
For example I wanted to compare the performance between two powerful gaming laptops: an ASUS Lamborghini VX7Sx laptop and the Alienware M15x. With Geekbench all I had to do was type “VX7″ in the search bar, add it as my baseline result, then look up the M15x to immediately get a detailed side by side comparison.
Right away I could see an overview of which one performed better in each of a series of tests and then dive into those results for more detailed information.

So do you want to find out if the PC you’re buying will be faster than what you own now? Or what about if one of the two laptops you’re considering is actually substantially faster (or slower) than the other? Geekbench makes it easy to cut through the clutter of complicated specifications tables to figure out which PC works best for you.
To test your current PC, all you need to do is download the small utility hosted on the Geekbench website and with one-click you can contribute your benchmark to the database.
The site even works for more than just PCs. You can compare between Windows, Android devices, iOS, Mac, Linux, and more to see how they all stack up.
Now, there’s obviously a lot more to picking a new PC for school than just performance – you’ll want to consider battery life, portability, design, reliability, and more – but this is definitely a great tool to start your search.
